CHANDIGARH : A Punjab Roadways bus driver Satpal Singh and conductor Jagdish Kumar were arrested for allegedly smuggling narcotics in the government bus on Sunday. Police have seized around 60 kg poppy husk from the government bus near Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) Sector 17. The bus (PB-65L-8576) has been impounded. The bus, that plies on Jaipur-Chandigarh route, was heading outwards from ISBT-17 when it was checked. The accused driver Satpal Singh is from Patiala while conductor Jagdish Kumar is a resident of Ludhiana. SI Surinder Kumar said the bus was subjected to routine checks. Poppy husk was found packed in two bags lying near the driver?s seat. Kumar said the husk was being brought from Jaipur and motive behind the smuggling was being investigated.
