Ex-MLA opposes Channi's induction into Congress

Chandigarh : The proposed entry into the Congress of Independent legislator from Chamkaur Sahib and till recently Manpreet Badal supporter, Charanjit Singh Channi, is being challenged by a faction led by former legislator from the same constituency Bhag Singh who has even appealed to the Congress high command in this regard. Addressing newsmen here, Bhag Singh said Channi was a candidate for the Congress ticket in 2007 and when he did not get it, he contested the seat as an Independent. Bhag Singh said instead of returning to the Congress fold after the elections, Channi chose to extend support to the SAD. Asserting that the Congress should not encourage such opportunism, the former legislator appealed to the PPCC president not to induct Channi into the party.
