UT police head constable Major Singh was hit by a speeding scooterist, Vikram Singh, at a checkpost on sectors 24-25 dividing road in Chandigarh on Sunday. The driver, who was given a chase by cops, drove towards Nayagaon and then hit into an IRB jawan, Naveen Kumar, before being caught after 25 minutes. Major Singh was taken to GMH-16. Police said the checkpost was laid for checking and the accused was signaled to stop. The accused is a resident of Bapu Dham Colony and was arrested. A case under charges of negligent driving and causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty was registered.
