Community policing, Commissioner Police Ishwar Singh

For the convenience of the general public, the police will soon set up community policing centers at district level, suvidha centers at sub-divisional level and outreach centers at police stations. In a statement released here on Tuesday, Commissioner Police Ishwar Singh said, “The decision has been taken by the government. The general public no longer need to come to offices for simple tasks or enquiries.” In line with this, Singh said suvidha centres will be set up at subdivisions like East, West, North, South, Centre, Atam Park and Sahnewal. Meanwhile, outreach centers will be set up at police stations falling under Gill subdivision like Sadar, Dehlon and Laddowal. Each suvidha center will be set up at a cost of Rs 10 lakh while Rs 5 lakh will be spent on each outreach centre. The cost of the complete project is expected to touch Rs 85 lakh.
